Home » Supporting New Performance
The Carriageworks is committed to developing and showcasing the best new performance work in the country. We aim to be the kind of venue where you can discover an unexpected gem that you'll want to tell your friends about.
We also want to support the theatre-making talent that's emerging in our city and region by offering opportunities to show and develop their work, learn from other practitioners and network with their peers.
There are a number of ways we are looking to make this happen.
The Emerge Leeds programme offers a year-long platform for emerging theatre-makers to try out ideas and connect with new audiences.
Freshly Picked is a special season of shows thoughout Septmeber, October and November, which provides a showcase of the best physical and contemporary theatre from across the UK.
A regular Script Night, organised in partnership with Script Yorkshire, presents script-in-hand performances from some of the region's finest writers, allowing well-established scribes to rub shoulders with brand new voices.
We also organise a number of one-off projects, including artist residencies, workshops and events, as well as outreach work with schools and universities aimed at engaging the next generation of performers and directors.
