Carriage Works Theatre

Coronavirus Information

For all live music concerts and other large-scale events where there is high crowd density, unrestricted movement and/or congested areas (ie toilets, bars & concessions) and therefore a much greater risk of transmission, everyone working, performing or attending will need to be prepared to show one of the following before being allowed to enter the venue. We will be spot checking upon arrival to Leeds Town Hall, so you may not be asked to prove your status. This is a necessary measure to help reduce the risk to you and others around you:

  • Proof of full vaccination – both doses received (with the second at least 14 days prior to the event)
  • Proof of a negative NHS lateral flow test – taken prior to travel on the day of arrival at the event
  • Proof of natural immunity – based upon a positive PCR test within 180 days of the event (including 10 days self-isolation following the result)

For NHS lateral flow tests, please note this must be taken and the result registered within 48 hours before arrival at the venue as there will be NO testing at the venue. Customers who do not have access to the NHS App will need to show text or email confirmation of test results. Find out more about how to register a test result.

The easiest way to prove your COVID-19 status is by using a NHS COVID PASS. The NHS COVID PASS can be accessed in the following three ways:

  1. NHS APP – proof of your COVID status will be shown within the free NHS APP on a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet. Please note you must be registered with a GP surgery in England to use the NHS App (please note this is a different app to the NHS COVID-19 app)
  2. NHS website – you can view your COVID status online and download or print as a PDF document. To access this service you will need to register for an NHS login if you do not have one already. Please allow yourself plenty of time to register as demand may be high
  3. NHS Letter – you can request a letter to be posted to you if you have been fully vaccinated by the NHS in England via the NHS website or by calling 119 (select the ‘NHS COVID Pass service’)

For further details including information for persons visiting from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or anyone outside of the UK please visit the government website

For all other events taking place at the venue, an event specific risk assessment will be undertaken in advance in conjunction with the organiser / promoter to determine whether use of the NHS COVID PASS (proof of COVID status) is proportionate and reasonable. Any events where proof of COVID status is required will be clearly noted on the event webpage and details emailed directly to customers.

To help further reduce the risk of transmission between customers, stewards and staff, only e-tickets will be issued for all ticketed events. Please ensure that you check your emails regularly including any spam folders. If you do not have access to a mobile device, arrangements can be made to issue a paper ticket. For this and for any other queries please contact the ticketing office on 0113 376 0318 or email

Anyone who is currently self-isolating, has tested positive (PCR or lateral flow test) or is displaying symptoms (shown below) should NOT turn up at the venue and will not permitted entry if they do. In these circumstances you will be able to apply for a refund by contacting the ticketing office on 0113 376 0318 or email

The main coronavirus symptoms are:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

For further information and advice please visit the NHS website or call the NHS 111 helpline.

From 10 December 2021 face coverings are mandatory in enclosed public spaces, including in theatres. All of our staff and audience members over the age of 11 are required to wear a face covering, unless excused for reasons of age, health or disability.

Refunds are not available for customers who have purchased tickets to our events and do not wish to wear a face covering. Customers are welcome to exchange their tickets to another date when restrictions may no longer apply or receive a credit to their account to purchase tickets in the future.

For all events we will provide additional hand sanitiser points at the entrances, at bars and in all toilets. We will continue to provide enhanced site cleansing services. Please use the sanitiser points where provided and continue to wash your hands regularly and for more than 20 seconds when using the toilet facilities.

If you test positive for COVID-19 via a lateral flow test before attending the event you must follow NHS advice.

If you test positive please do not attend the event, please act responsibly and stay at home and isolate.

If you’ve tested positive for COVID-19, you can speak to the Box Office for further information on your tickets.

The rules on self-isolation changed on 16 August. If someone you live with has symptoms of COVID-19, or has tested positive for COVID-19, you will not need to self-isolate if any of the following apply:

-You’re fully vaccinated – this means 14 days have passed since your final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine given by the NHS
-You’re under 18 years, 6 months old
-You’re taking part or have taken part in a COVID-19 vaccine trial
-You’re not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

Even if you do not have symptoms, you should still:

– Book a PCR test through GOV.UK or call 119, to check if you have COVID-19. You can also get a home test kit delivered
-Follow advice on how to avoid catching and spreading COVID-19
-Consider limiting contact with people who are at higher risk from COVID-19

If the above does not apply to you and you are contacted directly and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace you must self-isolate immediately and follow NHS Guidance.

If you have received both doses of the vaccine fourteen days ahead of attending an event at the Carriageworks Theatre you will not need to take a lateral flow test. You will need to prove your vaccination status with the NHS COVID PASS via the NHS App.

There will be no testing provision at the Carriageworks Theatre.

You should take your test at home before setting off to attend the event within 48 hours prior to arrival.

This can take up to two hours, but it’s usually much sooner. Make sure you do your test in good time and submit the results into the NHS App before arriving, so your app has time to update.

You can order Lateral Flow Tests for free from the website.

Each pack contains seven tests and they are delivered by Royal Mail, usually within 24-48 hours.

If you do not own a smartphone or computer you can still log a negative lateral flow test result by calling the phone number in your test kit’s instructions. After registering you will receive a text message confirming your negative test result from NHS that you can provide upon request.

If you are fully vaccinated you can request an NHS COVID PASS letter via the NHS website.

The letter may take up to five working days to reach you, so please request this in good time if you are atttending an event at Leeds Town Hall.

Please contact the NHS App team via the NHS website.

The NHS App is NOT the NHS COVID-19 App, this is used for Test and Trace. The icon is below for the correct app (please note, they do look very similar).

Yes, this is a necessary measure to help reduce the risk to you and others around you.

If someone in your group is under 18 years old they won’t need to take a lateral flow test or be prepared to show their COVID status.

We are not issuing refunds to customers who are not medically exempt and do not wish to wear a face covering from 10 December 2021.

Customers are welcome to exchange their tickets to another date when restrictions may no longer apply or receive a credit to their account to purchase tickets in the future.
