One of the most challenging aspects of any independent film is sourcing the ideal locations. Whether it's a warehouse for your next horror or a Period castle, this panel features industry professionals responsible for permits, location scouting and location managing on sites across the UK.
Richard Knight assists with the day to day running of the Yorkshire Film Office and also manages Screen Yorkshire’s training and education programmes. Richard has worked for fifteen years as a location manager, predominantly in Yorkshire on films including Four Lions and This is England, and TV Dramas such as Utopia and Prisoners Wives. He has recently taken a short sabbatical from Screen Yorkshire to location manage the final few weeks of the feature film Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, so his insight into the world of location filming comes from immediate first-hand experience.
David Wilson is Director of Bradford UNESCO City of Film, where he represents the city on an international level as part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Using the UNESCO title, David and his team are working with many partners to bring about positive social and economic impact for the people of Bradford and UK, to ensure all are realising the benefits of its status as the world’s first UNESCO City of Film. David is an expert advisor to the UK Commission to UNESCO in relation to the development of Creative Cities and is also a member of the advisory board at the Centre for World Cinema & Digital Cultures – University of Leeds, UK. In May 2019 David was appointed Guest Professor at the Beijing Film Academy Modern Creative Media College, Qingdao.
Lauren started her career in the Location Department at Yorkshire Television on Fat Friends, Between the Sheets and Emmerdale and she understands what makes a great location and the logistics involved in creating the perfect shoot! Lauren then moved into the corporate world and was the Marketing Manager at FSTE 100 companies managing photoshoots, TV adverts and large scale campaigns. Eight years ago, Lauren took over UK Locations - a location agency that supplies locations for photo, film and drama shoots.
