Main Info

Over the course of a year, six young dancers from a range of backgrounds train to compete in one of the world’s biggest ballet competitions: the Youth America Grand Prix. With only a handful of elite scholarships available, the pressure mounts as hundreds compete. From two siblings who have moved across the country with their family to attend the best schools, to a young dancer born in Sierra Leone who lost her family during the war, each dancer strives for success whilst battling the ups and downs of adolescence. Bess Kargman’s documentary is a compelling look at the dedication and sacrifices made by these children featuring stunning dance scenes which are sure to inspire any young dancer watching.

This film is also available as part of LYFF Movie Club – our ‘kids only’ screenings paired with hands-on filmmaking workshops. Find out more here!
