Leeds Community Arts Network
We are proud to be the home of the Leeds Community Arts Network (LeedsCAN), formerly the Leeds Civic Arts Guild, which brings together 11 vibrant community arts groups. Together, they form the creative heart of our theatre, producing inspiring work for and by the local community.
- Cosmopolitan Players
- Kippax Amateur Operatic Society
- Leeds Amateur Operatic Society
- Leeds Arts Centre
- Leeds Children’s Theatre
- Leeds Gilbert & Sullivan Society
- Leeds Insurance Dramatic & Operatic Society
- Leeds Writers’ Circle
- Whitkirk Arts Guild
- Leeds Youth Opera
- St Mary’s Youth Theatre
It is thanks to the tireless campaigning of these groups for a dedicated space for local theatre in Leeds that we exists today. Their voices helped shape the Carriageworks Theatre into what it is, a modern, purpose-built, fully-accessible venue in the heart of Leeds.
LeedsCAN has an ever growing membership and you can take part too. Everyone is welcome, from old hands to complete novices. This might be the opportunity you’ve always wanted to tread the boards and become the star of the show! Or you could experience the thrill of being backstage by getting involved in lighting, sound and set building.
