Access Information
We aim to provide an accessible and inclusive facility for all events taking place in the Carriageworks Theatre. Our goal is to be able to meet the requirements of deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people, as well as those who have requirements due to health conditions.
Our Building
The main entrance to the theatre is situated on Millennium Square within The Electric Press. You will find our ticket office, Leeds Ticket Hub, here on the ground floor.
From the entrance on Great George Street, through The Electric Press courtyard, there are 6 steps to the ground floor ticket office and a lift to all levels.
An accessible toilet with baby change facilities is available on levels 1,2,3 & 4
The Main Auditorium has eleven wheelchair spaces available on Level 1.
The Studio, a small-scale black box space, on Level 4, has four wheelchair spaces available, dependant on layout.
The closest changing place is at Leeds City Museum, or Leeds General Infirmary.
Access Scheme
Leeds Ticket Hub's Access Scheme supports disabled, D/deaf, and neurodivergent customers in accessing performances at our venues. The scheme currently enables wheelchair users to book accessible seating over the phone and allows eligible customers to book an Essential Companion ticket free of charge when support is needed to attend.

Accessible Performances
Audio Described, BSL Interpreted, Captioned, Dementia Friendly and Relaxed Performances can be booked on our website, or by emailing or calling Leeds Ticket Hub to discuss any specific requirements you may have before booking.
Relaxed Performances
Relaxed performances allow members of the audience to move around freely and leave or enter the auditorium as needed. Lights never go completely dark and sound effects are softened. These performances are designed to welcome children and adults who are neurodivergent, have a learning disability, dementia, or sensory and communication differences.
If you feel these adjustments are not required for your visit, we encourage you to consider attending an alternative performance time to help us maintain a supportive environment for those who benefit from it.
We also ask everyone to be tolerant and accepting that people may express their enjoyment in different ways; noise levels, movement and even singing along may be part of the experience, and we ask all audience members to be supportive of this.
BSL Performances
An interpreter will stand on the left hand side of the stage (stage right) and interpret the spoken and heard elements of the performance. We don't recommend booking any seats on Level 2, or any restricted view seats on Level 3 if you need a clear view of the interpreter. Please contact us for more details regarding best sight-lines.
Dementia Friendly Performances
Dementia Friendly performances are tailored for people with dementia and their families or carers, so that they can enjoy live performance in an environment that is comfortable and supportive. Loud and sudden sound effects may be softened, and some performances include a recap mid-way through.

Available Support
Hearing Loop System
A hearing loop is available for the Main Auditorium (rows F-M provide optimum reception) and The Studio. To request a headset in advance please email Leeds Ticket Hub at tickets@leeds.gov.uk or call 0113 376 0318.
Support Animals
We welcome support animals in all areas of our building, water bowls can be provided. Assistance animals are expected to be suitably trained and appropriately insured.

We recognise that there is more we can do to improve accessibility and make booking tickets as straightforward as possible. We are currently working with our ticketing provider to explore ways of enabling customers to book wheelchair spaces and Essential Companion tickets online, giving greater flexibility and independence when purchasing tickets.
